Apps for Healthcare workshop

Keynote: David Rew TD MA MChir FRCS, Consultant Surgeon, University Hospital of Southampton

Challenges and opportunities in the development of an advanced clinical informatics system

Jeremy Frey will introduce the workshop and the background to the role of IT utilities in healthcare.

This event is being held in conjunction with the RCUK-funded Digital Economy Hub on Social Inclusion through the Digital Economy led by Professor Paul Watson at Newcastle University.

The event will bring together various experts from healthcare experts to application developers as well as other  stakeholders in this area. We welcome David Rew who will set the tone of the workshop with a talk that presents the challenges and achievements of his work on timeline structured data visualisation in a breast cancer data set of 14,000+ patients.

In addition, the workshop will seek to deepen our understanding of apps that harness the benefits of big data repositories in order to support individual’s needs.

Paul Watson will draw the threads together at the end of the workshop as we identify the key actions that can be taken forwards from the day.

We look forward to welcoming interested parties to the event.
